Launch of the 2010 If We Can You Can Challenge The 'If We Can You Can' Challenge aims to nurture emerging entrepreneurial talent and recapture a spirit of enterprise in the North East. The Challenge is open to individuals aged 16 and over that fit one of these descriptions:1. Thinkers - applicants will have an idea and be looking to turn it into a viable business opportunity. They will probably be ready to take the first steps to making it a reality. 2.Doers - applicants will have taken the plunge and be working hard to get their business off the ground. 3. Growers - the business is established, but applicants will have identified new opportunities to make it grow. They will be developing plans to maximise potential. more

LankellyChase Foundation Summer Activity Grants Each year the foundation sets aside funds for a summer small grants programme. This year it has decided to concentrate these funds on activities that benefit children and young people aged 5-17 years who are living in refuges for families escaping domestic violence or who are young carers. more

BBC Children in Need - Fun and Friendship The purpose of this programme is to help projects create and enhance opportunities for disabled young people to meet friends and have a good time, as independently as possible. more

Cash 4 Clubs Cash 4 Clubs is a sports grants scheme which provides funding to support grassroots UK sports clubs. It gives clubs a chance to win grants ranging from £250 to £1000. more

The Power of Volunteering Volunteering England has launched a manifesto setting out how the next Government can support volunteering. Alongside the manifesto, it has also published a 'Volunteering Pledge' which it is asking all MPs and candidates to sign up to. more

Applications Now Welcomed for The Pitch 2010 The Pitch is an annual competition which aims to find the UK's most exciting and innovative small companies and entrepreneurial talent. Entrants must pitch their business idea to a panel of industry experts who will scrutinise business concepts and presentation skills, searching for the best of the best. more

UK Border Agency Funding The Home Office’s UK Border Agency has announced that the call for proposals for the European Refugee Fund is now open. The fund is aimed mainly at organisations setting up projects to help integrate refugees, or people who have been granted humanitarian protection or discretionary leave. more

Big Mediabox Contract Mediabox is inviting applications to Big Mediabox Contract. This is a large grant of £40,000 that will support organisations to manage and deliver a regional bursary project for disadvantaged young people aged 13-19. more

Ecominds Fund Announces Closing Dates Like Access to Nature, this Lottery funded programme has also announced that, due to the large number of applications, it is now introducing closing dates for its remaining unallocated funds. more

The Hilden Charitable Fund The aim of the Fund is to address disadvantage, notably by supporting causes which are unlikely to raise funds from public subscriptions. Grant-making priorities in the UK are: homelessness; community based initiatives for young people; asylum seekers and refugees; and penal affairs. more

Macmillan – Helping You Help Others Grants Macmillan Cancer Support has the overall aim of improving the lives of people affected by cancer, by providing practical, medical, emotional and financial support. Macmillan's grants programme for self help and support groups recognises that running a self help and support group effectively costs money. more

Healthy Hearts Grants Heart Research UK makes grants of up to £10,000 to support innovative projects designed to promote heart health and to prevent or reduce the risks of heart disease in specific groups or communities. more

Tree Council Grants The Tree Council provides grants through two programmes, Trees for Communities and Trees for Schools. Grants support community groups and schools to undertake tree-planting schemes during National Tree Week. more

Action for Blind People - Social Enterprise in Action Action for Blind People is set to work with social enterprises throughout Yorkshire and the Humber to offer work experience placements to blind and partially sighted people looking for employment. Thanks to funding by the National Lottery through Big Lottery Fund, Action for Blind People has developed a Social Enterprise and Employment Development (SEED) Project dedicated to finding placements within social enterprises. more
